Linked RMS is a family-run consultancy based in Worcestershire, originally founded by Phil Borrington and quickly growing into a father-and-son partnership, later joined by son-in-law Sam. Together we help UK manufacturers and contractors build health, safety and ISO management systems that actually get used on the shop floor — not filed away until the next audit.
Our long-term clients span sectors ranging from bespoke cable manufacturers for the car and aerospace industry to roller shutter security manufacturers, exhibition furniture suppliers, a large generator supply company, to an international smart tech company — a deliberately varied mix of small and mid-sized UK businesses who need practical, sector-aware support rather than off-the-shelf paperwork.
Three main things, and a lot of overlap between them. Most of our clients start with one service and grow into the others as trust builds.
Retained H&S support for manufacturers, contractors and industrial SMEs who need a competent person on call. Risk assessments, audits, toolbox talks, accident investigation, and the training sessions your team will actually turn up to.
Practical implementation and ongoing upkeep of ISO management systems — designed around how your business already works, not bolted on top of it. We can take you from nothing to certified, or pick up a tired system and get it audit-ready.
When a client loses a general manager or operations lead, we can step in on a subcontract basis to keep things moving and maintain the status quo — running the shop floor day-to-day while a permanent replacement is found, or supporting a leadership transition.
We deliberately keep our client roster small so the same two people are on every call, every audit, and every site visit. No account managers, no handovers.
Every document we produce is written to be read by the people who'll actually use it. Plain English, proper diagrams, and practical SOPs — not legal-department word soup.
Most of our client relationships run for years, not months. We're just as happy doing the quiet quarterly review as the big implementation project.
One example of the kind of work we do when we're embedded with a client — spotting things that have been hiding in plain sight for years, and closing them out properly.
During a routine H&S review at a long-established cable manufacturer, we flagged a lead-solder pot operation that had been running for decades without a formal Control of Lead at Work (CLAW) assessment. A full review found the exposure risk was significant enough to warrant immediate action.
Rather than patch the controls, we recommended — and managed — full substitution with a lead-free alloy. Four new documents were produced and issued: the CLAW risk assessment, a staff briefing, a decommissioning SOP for the old pot, and a full operating procedure for the lead-free process. The episode was logged as a Clause 10 nonconformity in the QMS and closed out cleanly, with zero production days lost.
Linked RMS professionally assisted us in the transition to ISO 9001:2015, and continue to consult on various aspects within our business. Highly recommended.
Linked RMS was founded in 2008 as a small family business, and we've stayed that way on purpose — so every client gets senior attention, every time.
Linked RMS exists because we got tired of watching big consultancies drop templated systems onto smaller businesses and then disappear at the quarterly review. We do the opposite — we keep our client list short, we stay involved, and we build systems our clients can actually run themselves once we're finished.
Our clients are mostly manufacturers, contractors and industrial SMEs across the West Midlands and Welsh borders. Some we've worked with for more than a decade.
Mike leads the consultancy, with over fifteen years of hands-on experience implementing ISO management systems and delivering health & safety programmes across the Midlands manufacturing base, and long-standing client relationships that speak for themselves.
Away from work, Mike is a film and TV series buff with a love of reading. Most evenings you'll find him and his wife Rachel out walking their toy poodle Kizzy.
Health & Safety consulting, ISO 9001:2015 implementation and embedded operational work, including management cover and advice for clients in transition.
Outside the day job, Sam is a coffee enthusiast, real ale fan and avid Arsenal supporter. Weekends usually involve gardening or long walks with his wife Claire.
Phil founded the consultancy and continues to support the business in a background advisory role, bringing decades of sector experience to the team.
When he's not mixing cocktails, watching the Formula 1 or tackling his latest DIY project, Phil can be found in the garden or visiting National Trust sites with his wife Eileen.
